Win tickets to see Marc Ribot live!

Win 2 tickets to see virtuoso guitarist Marc Ribot in a live setting at the Whitsell Auditorium (in the Portland Art Museum) this Friday, January 11th at 7 p.m. This is a rare opportunity!

Those already hooked into the year-round events programed at the Film Center may recall that Ribot was scheduled to play their annual Reel Music fest back in October, but was forced to cancel that engagement due to reasons beyond his control.

From solo projects ranging from experimental, classically-informed, and jazz–based works to high-profile collaborations with musicians such as Tom Waits, John Zorn, and McCoy Tyner, Ribot has plowed a twenty-five year long restless path through more styles and genres than most musicians attempt in a lifetime.
On the occasion of his appearance at the Film Center, Ribot will be lending his fluid improvisational and tight compositional skills to live scoring a screening of Charlie Chaplin’s 1921 silent classic THE KID.

In addition to the live score, Ribot will play a short set before the film begins. Fans of both innovative displays of instrumental prowess and cinema won’t want to miss this once in a lifetime opportunity to see the genius of Chaplin mingle with the magic of Ribot.

Advance tickets are $18 for general admission.

Screening: January 11 – Thursday 7 p.m.
Location: 1219 SW Park Avenue
