WE ARE STILL LISTENING TO...

Winterpills - EcholaliaWhile their full band was busy raising kids and committed to various day jobs, Flora Reed and Philip Price of Winterpills decided it would be fun to quickly record some of their favorite cover songs while the tape rolled. But what began as a small casual project morphed into an orchestrated, introspective transformation of a few well-known songs and quite a lot of under-appreciated gems: songs by Sharon Van Etten, Buddy Holly, Lisa Germano, the Go-Betweens, XTC, Beck, the Beatles, and more get the treatment of filtering through the alchemy of Flora and Philip s vocal & instrumental chemistry experiment. The stunning result, Echolalia, is available now and you can preview the tracks here.

Wilco - What's Your 20? Essential Tracks 1994-2014Nonesuch Records release two new Wilco collections in conjunction with the influential Chicago band's 20th anniversary. The first, What's Your 20? Essential Tracks 1994-2014, is a 2-CD compilation of essential tracks culled from the band's eight studio albums plus two songs from Mermaid Avenue, the collection of Woody Guthrie-penned tunes set to music by Wilco and Billy Bragg. The second, Alpha Mike Foxtrot: Rare Tracks 1994-2014, is a 4-CD/4-LP-Box-Set of rare studio and live recordings collected from the band's extensive audio archives. Alpha Mike Foxtrot features 64 pages of liner notes that include track-by-track recollections from Tweedy, notes by band members Nels Cline and John Stirratt, and reflections from members of Wilco's extended professional family. The booklet also showcases dozens of archival and never-before-seen photos from a wide array of photographers chronicling all phases of the band's career. Both albums are available now and you can preview the tracks right here.

Nothing Has Changed collects together for the first time the definitive collection of David Bowie's music from 1964 to 2014. Nothing Has Changed (named after a lyric from the 'Heathen' album opener Sunday ) compiles tracks from every period of Bowie's career from his earliest incarnations with 'Liza Jane' and 'Can't Help Thinking About Me' right up to James Murphy's 'Hello Steve Reich Mix' of 'Love Is Lost' from last year. The album is available in three formats: Standard 2CDDeluxe 3CD and the Vinyl Edition.  Each edition features it's own variation of the artwork and for those who pick up the album early we will make sure you don't miss out on the other images by providing you with an exclusive Free Lithograph which conveniently features all three covers.

TV On The Radio - SeedsTV On The Radio who release their new album Seeds. The album includes the single Happy Idiot which ignites a hearty introduction to Seeds, catapulting out of the gate with an earnestly frenetic beat over a sweet sweet chorus of resignation. One thing that remains a constant with TV on the Radio is that there is no constant, and one curveball trounces another on Seeds. Seeds was recorded at Federal Prism in Los Angeles and produced by guitarist David Andrew Sitek. The album is available now and you can watch the rather cool Speed Racer inspired video for Happy Idiot here.

'From The Vault' is a new series of live concerts from The Rolling Stones archive which are getting their first official release. 'L.A. Forum Live In 1975' is the second title in this series. The Rolling Stones 'Tour Of The Americas 75' was the band's first tour with new guitarist Ronnie Wood. Even before the dates started there were dramatic scenes in New York City at the official tour announcement when the band unexpectedly turned up on a flatbed truck to play 'Brown Sugar'. After a couple of low key warm-up shows in Louisiana the tour took in 44 dates between the 3rd June and the 8th August 1975. They settled into the L.A. Forum for a five night stint from July 9th to 13th and this concert film features the show from July 12th. The footage has now been carefully restored and the sound has been newly mixed by Bob Clearmountain for this first official release of the show.

Roughly timed to coincide with the 50th anniversary of Beatlemania, The Art of McCartney is a lavish celebration of all things Paul. Weighing in at three discs and 42 tracks in its grandest incarnation [Deluxe w/DVD], the set is 34 tracks at its slimmest [Standard Edition]. In both cases, that's plenty generous but it nevertheless only skims the surface of a very rich, very deep songbook that's developed over the decades.

Plus there are other great, new releases including Atlanta-based hard rock quintet Manchester Orchestra who release HOPE, a startling re-imagination of COPE, their most recent album, issued earlier this year.  Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1 is the Lorde curated soundtrack to the hit film and features tracks from Lorde, The Chemical Brothers, Chvrches, Bat For Lashes and more. British pop superstars One Direction release their eagerly anticipated fourth studio album, Four, the follow-up to their third album Midnight Memories, the world's bestselling album of 2013. Across its 17 tracks and 69 minutes, pom pom is unfiltered Ariel Pink, featuring infectious tales of romance, murder, frog princes and Jell-O. The record sees the Los Angeles native strike it out alone, returning to the solo moniker he has adopted for well over a decade. Depeche Mode Live in Berlin was recorded on location at the O2 World Berlin on November 25th and 27th, 2013 during the Depeche Mode's extremely successful Delta Machine Tour which saw them play to over 2.4 million people in 32 countries. And Bruce Springsteen: The Album Collection Vol. 1 1973-1984, is a boxed set comprised of remastered editions of the first seven albums recorded and released by Bruce Springsteen for Columbia Records between 1973 and 1984. All of the albums are newly remastered (five for the first time ever on CD) and all seven are also making their remastered debut on vinyl. The seven albums are recreations of their original packaging and the set is accompanied by a 60 page book featuring rarely-seen photos, memorabilia and original press clippings from Springsteen's first decade as a recording artist. Acclaimed engineer Bob Ludwig, working with Springsteen and longtime engineer Toby Scott, has remastered these albums, all newly transferred from the original analogue masters using the Plangent Process playback system. The Box Sets are available as CD and Vinyl versions.

A New Millennium Shopping Experience - You Can Help!

We hit our goal thanks to all of you! We are going to keep it going till Saturday when our Kickstarter ends. Today we are serving refreshments from 3 till 7pm compliments of Migration Brewing and New Belgium. We have the Lonely Wild playing a free live performance at 6pm. Greg Glover and Biscuit will be on hand to say hello. Keep spreading the word and we will have some exciting changes for you to see in the near future.

Whats next? The amount above our goal will go to improvements to the store. We have the ceramic tile roof which needs repaired too. We might get lucky and be able to do that roof also. After Record Store Day, we will begin plans to re- roof the store and begin with the plans for the coffee, beer and wine bar.

We will be sending out reward certificate in April and will have the T-shirts and Pint Glasses in house by May 1st. I will contact all of you in the near future with other rewards. The private dinner concert will be at our good friend Tony Starlights in the next couple months. I look forward to taking those backers to a show that were able to make that level of donation also. I promise we will have a great night! Plus the private house concerts....I'll make it a great night for you with one of Portland's finest talents.
