Dr. Demento Covered In Punk features over thirty different, never before released, all-new ‘punk’ cover versions of ‘mad music and crazy comedy’ songs famously heard on the airwaves of the legendary “Dr Demento Show”— intermixed with ‘wild card’ tracks showcasing some incredible, newly ‘demented’ versions of punk-rock classics! Joined by everyone from the Misfits, Joan Jett, Fred Schneider of the B52s, to “Weird Al” Yankovic, the late Adam “Batman” West (in one of his final performances), and Captain Kirk himself, William Shatner—(to name just a few). The Doctor is in…and he’s ‘Covered in Punk’!!

Dr. Demento is a world-renowned radio broadcaster, record collector and music historian, whose lifelong passion for music of all kinds is reflected in his weekly selection of "rare records and outrageous tapes" for the Dr. Demento Show. The Dr. Demento Show is Internet radio's two-hour weekly festival of "mad music and crazy comedy." This free-wheeling, unpredictable mix of hilarious songs and comedy bits originated in 1970 on radio station KPPC-FM in Pasadena, California, and continues with new episodes on online after decades of popularity on FM and AM stations coast-to-coast.

Over the years Dr. Demento has developed and polished a fast-moving, highly entertaining stage presentation called the “Festival of Dementia.” It features the radio show’s greatest hits on video, plus rare gems from the Doctor’s mammoth archives...along with the Doctor’s own anecdotes and insights. The presentation can be kid-friendly, or (in appropriate venues) it can include a few of the songs and sketches the Doctor couldn't play on radio, such as the legendary “Crepitation Contest.” Along with the Festival, he give presentations that draw on the Doctor's extensive knowledge of the history of Comedy, the music of Frank Zappa, the history of punk rock, and many other topics.
